Ben Affleck isn’t alone as he mourns the loss of his beloved mother, Chris Affleck.
According to a source, the actor’s two ex-wives — Jennifer Garner and Jennifer Lopez — are keeping close tabs on him during this tough time.
“They’re both determined to surround him with as much love and support as possible,” spills the source. “Ben adored his mom, she was his everything, so her death has left him absolutely devastated.”
The 83-year-old’s passing was revealed on Thursday, July 23, in a Legacy.com obituary. Per the announcement, the matriarch had been given six months to live following a December 2025 pancreatic cancer diagnosis and “died peacefully” on June 2.
“It all happened very fast, so Ben’s still reeling,” the source notes. “Without her, he feels very lost — and the people around him are worried because grief can be especially dangerous for someone in recovery.”

Open about his struggles with alcohol, the now-sober star, 53, previously admitted to People that in the past, he drank “to avoid dealing with painful feelings.”
Garner — with whom he shares kids Violet, 20, Fin, 17, and Samuel, 14 — famously drove him to rehab in 2018, one of multiple times he sought treatment, and Globe‘s source says the 54-year-old has continued to be “an absolute rock” for Affleck amid his latest heartbreak.
“Jen’s been by Ben’s side every step of the way,” shares the source. “She’s helping keep things steady for him and the kids right now.”
Despite their 2024 split, Lopez, 57, also remains a consistent shoulder to lean on, says the source.
“J.Lo has really stepped up too,” the source dishes. “She’s been calling, checking in and making sure he knows she’s there if he needs anything.”
