Igloo is recalling more than a million 90 Qt. Flip & Tow Rolling Coolers due to a defective handle after the company received reports of fingertip injuries including lacerations, bone fractures and amputations.
The recall includes Igloo 90 Qt. Flip & Tow Rolling Coolers manufactured before January 2024, sold in multiple body and lid color combinations with nearly four dozen model numbers, according to a notice posted by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. The manufacture date is imprinted on the bottom of the cooler in a circular pattern with an arrow pointing to the month of manufacture and the last two digits of the year of manufacture inside the circle.
The tow handle on the recalled coolers can pinch users’ fingertips, posing amputation and crush hazards. Igloo has received 12 reports of fingertip injuries, including fingertip amputations, bone fractures, and lacerations.
Around 1.06 million of the recalled coolers were sold in the U.S. Costco, Target, Academy, Dicks and other stores nationwide, and online at Amazon.com, Igloocoolers.com, and other websites from January 2019 through January 2025 for between $80 and $140. Around 47,000 were sold in Canada and around 23,000 were sold in Mexico.
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled coolers and contact Igloo for a free replacement handle.
