Hugh Jackman Offers Olive Branch to Ex Deborra-Lee Furness After ‘Ugly’ Split: ‘He Feels Terrible’ (Exclusive)

Hugh Jackman is eager to mend fences with ex-wife Deborra-Lee Furness, a source tells Globe.

The pair — who would have celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary this April — separated in 2023 before finalizing their divorce last June amid rumors he cheated with his The Music Man costar-turned-girlfriend, Sutton Foster.

“Hugh never intended to hurt Deb,” insists the source. “And he says he’s ready to take total responsibility for his part in the breakdown of their marriage.”

As Globe previously reported, the actor’s scorned wife, 70, met with publishers about telling her side of the split — which she seemed to confirm was messy.

“My heart and compassion goes out to everyone who has traversed the traumatic journey of betrayal,” Furness hinted in a statement to the Daily Mail in May 2025. “It’s a profound wound that cuts deep.”

According to the source, the tension between Jackman, 57, and his former spouse still hasn’t improved all of these months later.

“He feels terrible that things have gotten so ugly between them,” the source shares. “They have decades of history together and he would love it if they could take the good of that and leave the bad behind.”

At the heart of his desire to make peace are kids Ava, 20, and Oscar, 25, says the source.

“Ava is turning 21 in July and he would love it if they could celebrate that milestone as a family, so Hugh is pushing to get together with Deb and hash things out,” dishes the source. “He wants her to feel heard, but his hope is that she’ll be able to own her part in things too.”
