Action star Vin Diesel has come under fire from overzealous fans after endless delays on Fast & Furious 11, and sources reveal he’s scrambling to save the before the franchise crashes and burns.

“It’s been a long, tortured journey to get this movie up and running,” says an industry insider. “Even though there’s been some preproduction and pre-shooting, the full ensemble isn’t going to assemble until later this spring after many months of delays and a lot of uncertainty about budget and location.”

Meanwhile, the whole franchise seems to already be running on fumes. The 2023 installment, Fast X, barely turned a profit. And 2021’s Fast 9 also disappointed at the box office. All of this sputtering is said to be having a “serious impact” on Vin, 57.

“Vin is terrified it might be the end of the road, and with good reason,” discloses the insider. “He has annoyed people over the years with his antics, not just on this franchise but in Hollywood in general.”

Still, he apparently kept in good graces with honchos because his movies made heaps of money and kept fans happy.

“But times have changed and now that the franchise has experienced diminishing box office returns, Vin suddenly has a lot to prove,” explains the source. “The pressure is on and the whole town is second-guessing him.”

As GLOBE previously reported, the Hollywood star got into a feud with costar Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in 2021, with the former pro wrestler vowing he was done with the franchise thanks to Vin.

The Tinseltown tough guys squashed their beef two years later, but only after Vin lowered himself to groveling. And he may need to eat more humble pie if he wants to keep his beloved franchise from stalling out.

“Vin is known for his massive ego and huge sense of entitlement, but to pull this movie off he’s going to have to step up, play nice with everybody, and finally put all the diva behavior behind him,” warns the insider.

“Vin likes to be this mysterious, intense guy, but those aren’t qualities people look for in a leader. If this turns out to be the final movie in the series, Vin will want to go out on a high note — and he needs to bring every one of his costars with him. He owes them that.”
