Two men have been arrested in connection to a case in Miami-Dade County that deputies believe involved five suspects who allegedly rented a Toyota Camry to pose as police officers for a series of crimes including armed burglary, kidnapping, arson and murder.
Naquon Jahrell Fagan was arrested Thursday, October 22, after his name was linked through rental records to the gray 2026 Camry investigators believe was used to commit the alleged crimes, according to WPLG. Surveillance footage also reportedly showed Fagan, 25, purchasing gloves that matched those of a suspect, with the purchase tag later found in the vehicle, per police.
Fagan’s detention followed the October 14 arrest of Devorise Carl Johnson after his release from Jackson North Medical Center, per NBC affiliate WTVJ, where he had been receiving treatment for gunshot wounds allegedly sustained during the break-in.
Fagan and Johnson, 21, are now facing the same seven felony charges, including first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, armed kidnapping, armed robbery, armed burglary and impersonating a police officer resulting in death.

The charges stem from the tragic events that took the life of Eddrick Malik Bethune on October 4. Investigators believe the five men arrived outside the 22-year-old victim’s apartment complex at 9:41 p.m. the night before in the rented Camry. The vehicle was reportedly equipped with red and blue flashing lights, per Law & Crime.
Bethune came out of his apartment around midnight, at which point two of the suspects allegedly stepped out of the vehicle armed with guns while wearing baseball caps and shirts with the word “POLICE” on the back, per WTVJ.
The victim was allegedly forced to the ground and handcuffed, per the probable cause statement cited by Law & Crime, after which Johnson and two other suspects allegedly used his keys to gain access to his apartment.
Surveillance footage inside, as detailed by Law & Crime, showed two suspects walking toward a bedroom while Johnson allegedly pointed a handgun at a second victim who was lying on the sofa when they broke in. The second victim stood and grabbed an AK-47-style rifle, per the police report, and exchanged gunfire, with Johnson allegedly taking multiple hits.

All three suspects then “jumped out of the third-story bedroom window, attempting to flee the scene,” per the affidavit, with Johnson described as having allegedly “bled on the floor, walls, curtains, blinds and broken glass from the window of the apartment.”
As this was happening inside, per the legal documents, the two suspects outside allegedly forced Bethune into the Camry. The three suspects from the apartment then allegedly jumped in the vehicle and they all fled the scene, per the affidavit, stopping just long enough to drop the injured suspect off at the hospital.
The other four suspects, with Bethune, allegedly continued traveling to another part of town where the victim “was shot multiple times and killed,” per the police reports. After allegedly dropping his body along the roadside, per WPLG, officers believe the suspects drove to another area where they allegedly tried to destroy the Camry by “igniting the vehicle on fire,” per the affidavit.
A possible bond for Fagan has not yet been determined, according to jail records reviewed by Globe, while Johnson is being held without bond pending a pretrial detention hearing.
