Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi Are ‘Miserable’ In England, May Move Back to the States

Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi could soon be coming back to America, sources tell GLOBE — after fracturing their fairytale life in England.

Late last year, the talk show host, 67, and her wife — Ally McBeal alum Portia de Rossi, 52 — traded their longtime California home for a luxe farmhouse in England’s star-studded Cotswolds region.

“Ellen needed to escape, and they went to England with the dream of getting away from the drama, but that hasn’t been the case,” says an insider.

“It’s been one nightmare after another since they moved.”

As readers know, Ellen quit her talk show in 2022 after 19 years following claims that she created a hostile work environment and her “be nice” mantra was just an act.

She denied knowing about inappropriate behavior on the Ellen set — and later joked in a stand-up routine that she was “kicked out of show business” for being “mean.”

But Ellen quickly stirred up yet another PR crisis — this time with her Britain neighbors, who’ve accused the Finding Dory star of failing to get permission before building an extension on her $18 million mansion.

A spokesperson for the West Oxfordshire District Council insisted all renovations were “completed to a high standard,” but sources say that the community outrage remains.

Besides that, the celebrity-heavy area was hit with massive flooding in February, adding to Ellen and Portia’s woes, adds a source.

“England has been anything but the fairy tale they imagined. Their beloved farmhouse has been beset by flooding and battles with their neighbors have been unbearable,” says an insider.

The couple has relocated to another pricey estate on higher ground, but according to our source.

“Everyone knows they’re miserable, although they’re still trying to make a go of it. They’ve spent tons of money on this move, but folks are betting that they’ll soon be heading back to sunny California,” says the insider.
