Country legend Dolly Parton says she’s embarking on a diet after stuffing herself over the holidays, alarming concerned friends and fans who fear the already skinny minnie is risking her health.
“Aside from her huge breast implants, Dolly is pin-thin all over,” notes a Nashville insider. “It’s actually a little scary to think of her losing more weight!”
The 79-year-old Jolene singer admitted to overindulging at the tail end of 2024, like a lot of other Americans.
“We all start eating around Thanksgiving and we eat until the first of January, and that’s when we all go on our diets,” Dolly told an interviewer. “So, you think, ‘Well, I’m not going to even think about dieting now. I’m just going to eat everything I want to.’”
She added that “you stretch your clothes out” while enjoying all the good food but she’ll be “ready for a diet after the first of the year.”
Dolly, who is barely five feet tall, is said to weigh a scant 110 pounds but still wants to slim down!
“She’s determined to drop 10 pounds, which is a huge amount for someone her size, and hit her goal of 100 pounds,” dishes the insider. “Folks in her inner circle are begging her to stop this nonsense and focus on giving her body the nourishment it needs.
“At her age it’s very dangerous to be underweight, and if she’s not careful she could seriously put herself at risk!”
Dolly no doubt needs healthful helpings of food to fuel her hectic schedule. According to our mole, the superstar is already running herself ragged with her many projects. Although she has no tour dates slated for this year, she’s still busy overseeing Dollywood, her wine business, and other enterprises, and caring for her ailing 82-year-old hubby, Carl Dean.
“The least she can do for herself is get enough calories,” frets the insider. “But she won’t listen. She’s skipping meals and trying to eat less than 1,000 calories a day.
“She’s got it in her head that she’ll look better if she’s thinner, and no one can seem to talk sense into her!”
Experts warn that underweight seniors risk health woes, including a weakened immune system, loss of muscle mass and a higher susceptibility to bone fractures from osteoporosis.
Longevity expert Dr. Gabe Mirkin, who has not treated Parton, has previously told GLOBE that Dolly “lacks muscle, which markedly increases risk for osteoporosis!”
