A dog in Missouri was rescued this week after surviving a 100-foot fall into a silo at an abandoned cement factory, authorities said.

The St. Louis Fire Department said firefighters responded to a report of a trapped dog in the area of Riverview Drive and Scranton Avenue at Cementland, a former cement factory turned incomplete and abandoned public art installation. The dog survived falling approximately 100 feet into a silo.

Firefighters prepared a complex high-angle rescue operation using an Arizona Vortex, a portable high directional anchoring system. A video shared by the fire department show rescuers setting up the rope system over the silo opening.

“Multiple precautions are taken; redundancies in place to ensure a safe operation,” the fire department wrote alongside the video on social media.

The dog, dubbed “Silo,” was successfully rescued from the silo and was “in great spirits,” the fire department said in an update alongside a photo. Animal Care and Control personnel responded to the scene to provide care.
