Daryl Hannah and Neil Young’s Love Story Takes Center Stage in New Tour Documentary ‘Coastal’

Devoted Daryl Hannah’s groupie-like obsession with her rock icon hubby, Neil Young, has inspired her to direct four documentaries about him — including the new tour flick Coastal, which lays their life together bare.

“Daryl and Neil are attached at the hip and she has made it her priority to let the world know it.” a source says.

“She is constantly taking videos of Neil performing for his fans, writing music or just reflecting on his career, as well as documenting their intimate moments together.”

The unlikely romance went public in 2014 when environmental activists Neil, now 79, and Daryl, 64, turned up together at an anti-Keystone Pipeline protest in Washington, D.C., the same year that he divorced Pegi Young, his wife of 36 years and mom of his two youngest kids.

The match didn’t sit well with everyone, including Neil’s onetime music partner David Crosby, who called Daryl a “purely poisonous predator” but later apologized.

The Splash beauty has endured some sensationally explosive relationships. She dated rocker Jackson Browne for about a decade before allegations emerged that he battered her.

The sensitive singer and songwriter vehemently denied the allegations and later received an apology from Fox Television, which also deleted scenes in a documentary that referred to the alleged incident.

Daryl moved on to the late John F. Kennedy Jr., but that romance fizzled after his mom, Jackie Onassis, disapproved and Daryl accused him of killing her dog.

She also briefly dated late actor Val Kilmer before marrying Young in 2018.

But it seems the Heart of Gold singer has discovered the secret to calming Daryl and welcomed her directing the new film, which follows the odd couple across the country on the singer’s first post-COVID tour in 2023.

“Daryl is really dedicated to capturing just about everything Neil does because she believes it’s culturally significant,” says the insider.

“And to tell the truth, he probably would have retired years ago if Daryl hadn’t come into his life. But with her in the front row, he has the energy and vigor of a guy half his age.”

“They both have embarked on a happy second act.”
