Setsmart is recalling more than 22,500 LoGest climbing ropes sold online on Amazon because they can weaken and break, posing a fall hazard to users.
The recall involves LoGest Climbing Ropes with Carabiners and LoGest Climbing Ropes with Heavy-Duty Metal Hooks, which are made of hemp and were sold in 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 and 50 feet lengths, according to a notice posted by the U.S. consumer Product Safety Commission.
Both recalled ropes have “LoGest” written in large white text on the black plastic on the ends of the ropes. The LoGest Climbing Rope with Carabiner has a silver “D” ring and a silver climbing carabiner attached. The LoGest Climbing Rope with Heavy-Duty Metal Hook has a blue stripe running through the rope, and has a black metal hook attached to one end with two silver bolts and nuts.
The firm has received 13 reports of the recalled ropes breaking, including one reported fall that resulted in a “severe spinal cord injury.”
The recalled ropes were sold online at Amazon.com from March 2021 through November 2024 for between $20 and $70. About 22,500 were sold in the U.S., while about 350 were sold in Canada and about 25 were sold in Mexico.
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled ropes and register for a full refund at www.LoGestRopeRecall.com. Consumers will be given instructions to dispose of the rope, and will be required to submit a photo and sign a form to receive the refund, which will be issued in via Amazon to the form of payment used on the order.
