Chili’s And Lifetime Partner For ‘I’ll Be Home For National Margarita Day’ Romance Starring Maria Menounos and Taye Diggs

Chili’s Grill and Bar is partnering with Lifetime to produce a holiday romance for margarita lovers to celebrate National Margarita Day on Feb. 22.

The Lifetime Television Event “Ill be Home for National Margarita Day,” will premiere on Lifetime on Wednesday, Feb. 19, at 10 p.m. ET, just in time for the holiday. According to the romance experts at Lifetime, “margaritas arent the only thing being shaken up in Ferguson Falls, a small town where National Margarita Day is the biggest event of the year, with Chilis at the heart of the festivities.”

“As the margarita experts, National Margarita Day is the most important holiday of the year at Chilis, but we were all surprised that no feel-good stories have been made around this incredible holiday,” George Felix, Chilis Chief Marketing Officer, said in a statement. “Lifetime is known for its beloved, iconic holiday programs, so there is no better partner to finally give National Margarita Day the attention it deserves. What better way to celebrate than with the holidays biggest television event and Chilis signature margaritas.”

“Ill be Home for National Margarita Day” stars Maria Menounos as Liz and Taye Diggs as Sam, former love interests who are reunited when Liz returns to her hometown “desperate to escape the big citys overpriced margaritas.” But a big-city developer’s plan to build condos threatens Ferguson Falls’ traditions, and Liz and Sam have to work together to stop the developer and save National Margarita Day — of course rekindling their romance along the way.

“A few of my friends call me Margamarita, and my husband and I are known frequenters of our hometown Chilis, so this was the role of a lifetime bringing the fandom of Chilis iconic margaritas to the silver screen,” said Menounos, an executive producer on the project.

“I had an absolute blast working on ‘Ill be Home for National Margarita Day’ with Chilis and Lifetime. They really brought the spirit of the holiday — a celebration spent with your favorite margarita and favorite people — to life,” said Diggs.

Fans everywhere can join the National Margarita Day celebrations at Chili’s restaurants, which will be serving up drink specials and exclusive merch for a limited time. Available all February at participating locations is the $6 StrawEddy Margarita of the Month, featuring Deep Eddy Lemon Vodka, Lunazul Blanco Tequila, strawberry puree and house-made sour.

On Feb. 22, the Tequila Trifecta will be available for just $5. The top-shelf drink features el Jimador Silver Tequila, 1800 Reposado, and Jose Cuervo Gold, perfectly shaken with triple sec and and house-made sour.

After its Feb. 19 premiere, “Ill be Home for National Margarita Day” will air again on Lifetime in celebration of the holiday on Feb. 22 at 2 p.m. ET and will be available to stream on mylifetime.com, the Lifetime app, YouTube, social and VOD platforms starting Feb. 20 for a limited time.
