One year after Charlie Kirk was assassinated, a statue is reportedly set to be unveiled in his honor.

According to the online prediction market platform Polymarket, a 6-foot-5 statue of the conservative activist will be unveiled in New York City’s Times Square.

In a post shared to X Thursday, the platform estimated that the statue cost $100,000 to make and will be revealed at 2:33 p.m. MST, the exact time he was shot and killed on September 10, 2025.

Charlie was fatally shot at the age of 31 while speaking at Utah Valley University, leaving behind his wife, Erika Kirk, and the pair’s two children.

Erika, 37, who has since taken over leadership of Turning Point USA, the conservative organization he cofounded, recently reflected on the year since her husband’s passing in a New York Times guest essay titled “What I’ve Learned About Grief,” published on Monday, September 7.

Describing the first 24 hours after Charlie’s death, Erika likened it to a “fever dream,” as she recalled a moving conversation she had with Second Lady Usha Vance and the helpful advice she gave her.

“I don’t know how I’m going to do this,” Erika said of her conversation with Vance, to which the second lady replied, “You know when you’re on an airplane with your kids, and you’re going to land in 15 minutes, but the kids are going crazy, screaming, throwing things, and then the plane lands, and the kids relax, and everything is fine again?”

“That’s how it will be. Just get through the next 15 minutes,” Vance told Erika, per her piece in the Times.

Erika said the thoughtful guidance became “seared into” her heart.

“At first, I needed to survive the next 15 minutes. Over time, I’ve realized that Charlie would want me to live them,” she wrote.

Now, a year on, Erika said she’s discovered that grief and happiness are not separate emotions, but rather two very real feelings that can coexist.

“I am learning that grieving Charlie and living life at the same time are part of the rhythm of grief. I can miss him with every part of me and still laugh with our children. I can have a broken heart and still experience joy,” she wrote.

The statue is one of several ways Charlie is being remembered on the anniversary of his death, including in Utah, where he died, with local outlet KUTV reporting that Governor Spencer Cox has declared September 10 as “Charlie Kirk Day.”
