Weeks before her shocking death at 71 years old, Catherine O’Hara missed a major Hollywood event.
The veteran actress — who passed away on Friday, January 30 — was conspicuously absent from the Golden Globes on Sunday, January 11, even though she’d been nominated for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role on Television.
While she didn’t win for her work on The Studio that night, the Apple TV show took home Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy, with her castmates flooding the stage at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
O’Hara’s final public appearance came at September’s Emmy Awards, where she joined her The Studio costars in celebrating their Outstanding Comedy Series win.

The star’s illustrious career also included performances in Home Alone, Beetlejuice, Schitt’s Creek and Best in Show.
Though a publicist from Creative Artists Agency told the Los Angeles Times their client died at home following a “brief illness,” the LA Fire Department later revealed to Page Six that paramedics were called to O’Hara’s residence and she was rushed to the hospital in “serious condition.”
No official cause of death has been announced.
She is survived by her husband, production designer Bo Welch, and two adult sons: Matthew and Luke.
“I’m with my family as much as I can be,” she noted to 519 Magazine in 2019. “My family’s always come first.”
