The clean-cut crooner — whose other hits included Julie, Do Ya Love Me — got his pop career going after appearing on TV’s musical variety show Shindig in 1964, and also became a star in the 1968 Western series Here Come the Brides. After a guest stint on TV’s Emergency, he became a real-life paramedic, and following a final concert in 2001, he worked as a medical training officer at the L.A. Police Academy until retiring in 2010.
