After 27 Years of Marriage, Hugh and Deborra-Lee Navigate Divorce with Strength and Respect

Wolverine star Hugh Jackman once “amicable” divorce from estranged wife Deborra-Lee Furness turns vicious and teeters on the brink of all-out war, say sources.

The 56-year-old hunk — who is worth $100 million — is said to be ignoring friends’ pleas to stop being a tightwad and pay Furness, 69, the money they believe she so richly deserves.

“Hugh and Debs’ friends are all shocked by the way he’s acting,” says an insider. “He’s always had the rep of being such a good guy and he made a big deal about wanting to be fair in the divorce. But instead of just splitting it all down the middle, he now says he deserves more of the fortune because he was the one who earned it.”

The former lovebirds have no prenup “because when they got hitched, they believed it would last forever and they had no idea Hugh would become such a big star,” says the source.

They were married for 27 years and adopted two children, Oscar, now 24, and Ava, 19. Then, in September 2023, they shockingly announced their separation, soon sparking rumors that Hugh had been having a steamy affair with his then-married Music Man costar Sutton Foster, 50.

Sutton filed for divorce from her husband of nearly 10 years, Ted Griffin, in October 2024, and after months of playing hide-and-seek lovers, Hugh and Sutton finally went public with their romance in January.

Meanwhile, Hugh and his soon-to-be ex-wife have apparently been tussling over money.

“He’s totally forgetting that it was Debs who supported him every step of the way,” says the insider. “She gave up her acting career so they could focus totally on his, and instead of being grateful he’s suddenly acting as though he’s done it all on his own.

“She’s furious at him!”

As GLOBE has reported, Hugh and Sutton’s love affair was an open secret among the Broadway crowd.

“Hugh was totally swept off his feet by Sutton,” shares the source. “Debs is no fool and suspected something was going on all along.

“Now, she feels betrayed and hurt, and she’ll be damned if she’s going to let him walk all over her in the divorce. She’s ready to fight fire with fire and doesn’t care how much of the money the lawyers eat up. She just wants to make Hugh pay, one way or another!”
