Police recently stopped a Washington man with outstanding warrants, and found “a mountain of stolen goods” inside his shirt including 25 pounds of frozen shrimp.
The Tacoma Police Department said Sergeant Thiry recently made contact with a man who had outstanding warrants at 72nd Street and Pacific Avenue. While taking him into custody, a pat down revealed $156 worth of stolen goods concealed within his shirts.
Police on Friday released body-worn camera video of the recent arrest, with music playing over a sped-up clip of Thiry pulling item after item after item out of the man’s clothes, including 25 pounds of frozen shrimp and “a variety” of other items from a nearby store.
“What’s all this? They’re frozen!” Thiry says, pulling a concealed bag out of the man’s clothes. “Jiminy Christmas! How many bags of shrimp did you take?”
Thiry finally asked if there is anything else concealed on the suspect’s person, and the man appears to say no, but Thiry finds a final bottle of what appears to be Hershey’s Strawberry Syrup.
“Oh, Hershey’s syrup!” Thiry says in a tone of disbelief. The pile of items nearly covers the hood of Thiry’s patrol vehicle.
“It’s impressive, I’ll tell you that,” Thiry laughs.
“Over the past few months, weve shifted to a data-driven set mission focus across Tacoma, using statistics from our Crime Analysis Unit to guide our proactive efforts,” the police department said. “This is just one example of how targeted enforcement is helping address retail theft and other crimes impacting our businesses and community.”
