Saltburn’s Barry Keoghan has drummed up interest with his recent casting as musician Ringo Starr in four interconnected but separate biopics about members of the Beatles. The Sam Mendes–directed flicks, which are slated for 2028, will also star Paul Mescal as Paul McCartney, Harris Dickinson as John Lennon and Joseph Quinn as George Harrison.

Here are 10 things you don’t know about the Dublin-born performer.

1. His drug addicted mother died from a heroin overdose when he was 12.

2. He spent seven years in foster care — in 13 different homes — before his grandmother and aunt managed to get him and his brother out of the system.

3. While Barry says his foster families were “all incredible,” he admits that being forced to move around so much left him with trust issues as an adult.

4. An amateur boxer, he’s sparred with pro fighter Feargal McCrory.

5. In 2020, he was diagnosed with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder — but suspects he’s long been affected by the condition.

6. The first name of his son with ex-girlfriend Alyson Sandro — a Scottish orthodontic therapist — is the last name of Hollywood legend Marlon Brando.

7. He wants to build a youth center in his childhood neighborhood with fellow local Kellie Harrington, an Olympic boxing medalist.

8. With his role in 2022’s The Batman, he became the second non-American to play DC Comics supervillain the Joker, following in the footsteps of late Aussie Heath Ledger.

9. His one-year romance with song-bird Sabrina Carpenter ended in December — nearly seven months after he appeared in her music video Please Please Please.

10. He’s a fan of Manchester United and appeared in the soccer club’s recent promotional campaign with his second cousin Frank Stapleton, who was a member of the team in the 1980s.
