Hollywood legend Harrison Ford, 82, is smashing his way into the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the raging Red Hulk in Captain America: Brave New World.

The wisecracking codger says the beastly role “took being an idiot for money,” explaining “you have to do certain things that normally your mother would not want you to do — or your acting coach.”

Here are 10 things you don’t know about the man who found superstardom as swashbuckling Star Wars smuggler Han Solo.

1. During his childhood in Illinois, he was a Boy Scout and achieved the second-highest rank of Life Scout.

2. In 1960, he was the first student to go on-air at Maine East High School’s radio station, where he served as a sportscaster.

3. At Ripon College in Wisconsin, he majored in philosophy and joined the Sigma Nu fraternity.

4. He briefly went on tour with The Doors as a roadie, using his carpentry skills to build stages for the band.

5. The scar on Ford’s chin came from crashing his car into a telephone pole.

6. He was offered the role of Mike Stivic on All in the Family, but turned it down because he found the bigotry of show patriarch Archie Bunker offensive — clearing the way for Rob Reiner to accept the part.

7. He met his second wife — future E.T. screenwriter Melissa Mathison — on the set of Apocalypse Now, in which he played a bespectacled Army intelligence specialist.

8. He was listed as one of 50 people barred from entering Tibet in 1996 after Chinese officials objected to the Dalai Lama film Kundun, which was written by Mathison — whom Ford divorced in 2004.

9. Multiple insects are named in his honor — the Central American ant Pheidole harrisonfordi, and the Calponia harrisonfordi spider, which has been found only in California.

10. Gregory Peck and Gary Cooper are his favorite actors.
